APPLYING ABRAHAM’S PEACE-MAKING PRINCIPLES TO TODAY’S MIDDLE-EAST

Gol Kalev: “There is a renewed sense of optimism for peace here in Israel thanks to the Abraham Accords. It is called the Abraham Accords because it is peace between the Abrahamic nations, but I think it also deploys the peace-making principles of Abraham himself.

We are told in the bible that the local kings sought to make alliances with Abraham thanks to his success in the war. This is classic peace through strength. And they also wanted to make peace with him, because they wanted to make peace with him – peace for peace. They did not ask him to give up this territory or that territory, or this concession or that concession.

So I just think it is astonishing that thousands of years after Abraham, after decades of failed frameworks that really don’t have much to do with the Middle East and more to do with foreign-offices elsewhere, President Trump comes in and applies those same Abrahamic principles to peace-making here in the Middle East and it works! Peace through strength and peace for peace. Hence, we now have peace with a number of Arab countries and hoping to expand that. There are partnerships going on, and we look forward to welcoming our new Arab friends here in Jerusalem.”
